Our school were given the fantastic opportunity to play rugby at half time during the Wales v England U20 International at Parc Eirias.
Pupils from Year 5 and 6 have been attending an after school rugby session for the last few weeks with Mr Roberts, Mr Wilkinson and past pupil Patrick Wregglesworth. They have been learning the basic skills of rugby through in a simplified format called 'Tag Rugby'. Ten pupils were chosen to represent the school in a match against Ysgol Craig y Don. The game took place on the pitch at half time in front of 7,000 fans. There was some fine running and passing on display from both teams and the match ended 4-4. The teams were then paraded around the pitch to the cheers and applause of the capacity crowd. Unfortunately, the senior Welsh players didn't perform so well as they list to a very powerful English team. This was a fantastic experience for our pupils and their behaviour was excellent. Well done everybody. Also, much appreciation must be given to Mr Roberts for arranging the event and supervising the children on a cold, wet Friday night. Comments are closed.
