On Friday, the weather was perfect, as the whole school participated in a Sponsored Run and a range of sporting activities. In the morning, Nursery and Reception ran more than 50 miles, played games and did Morris Dancing with Penrhyn Stars. In the afternoon, we were joined by Colwyn Bay Cricket, Football and Rugby Clubs, Eirias Hockey Club, MW Sports and The Immortals Thai Boxing Club. Years 1-6, had a number of taster sessions and also completed their sponsored run. Year 6 ran the furthest, with 45 miles, as you’d expect but Year 3 were the stars, as they were second, with 40 miles, having also been swimming in the morning! Thanks to a donation from Tatws Trading and the work of our PTA, all children were provided with extra energy from fruit kebabs and smoothies. Parents were also provided with, less healthy, extra energy from tea, coffee and fabulous cakes. We are still counting the money collected but we already know that the children had a great day. Thank you to all the providers for this event. If your child enjoyed one or more of the activities, please encourage them to join these local clubs.

A MASSIVE well done, to ALL our Nursery and Reception children for such a wonderful Easter Show. It was incredible to see such young children, showing off their talents with huge smiles on their faces. St Joseph’s is very proud of each and every one of you!
Thank you, as always to parents, grandparents and others who provided costumes. Thank you to the fantastic Early Years staff who work so hard to establish the nurturing environment in which our children can flourish. Finally, thank you to the many people, connected to our school/parish community who have shared so many kind words and congratulations, following the publication of our latest ESTYN Report. It was a S.P.E.C.I.A.L day. As you are all aware, school spending, this year, will be significantly reduced. However, thanks to the generosity of our parents, and the success of our events over the past year, the PTA are able to offer each class £250 to be spent on resources and/or activities.
The PTA hope the class teachers, and pupils, enjoy deciding how to spend this money and look forward to finding out how each class have benefitted from the donation. Thank you to our wonderful PTA and all our families and friends who have contributed to events throughout the year. Your support is greatly appreciated by all staff and pupils. This week, Year 5 did something different and they were helped by some visitors. Here’s the story, in their own words......
‘Today in Year 5 we have had a great morning working with Mrs Cross (Isabelle’s Nana). She has been telling us all about Felting (She is very talented at this!) We made 2D planets on a felted background. Between the class we made the 8 major planets in our solar system: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. The wool was different textures and the needle was very easy to break . Mrs Cross brought in lots of her felted products for us to see. We had such a fun morning and have enjoyed learning this new art skill. We would like to say a huge thank you also to Miss Jonas (Maegan’s Mum) for helping us. Year 5 xxx’ If you, or a member of your family, have a particular skill/hobby/interest or would just like to get involved in supporting pupil learning experiences, please get in touch. |
