Key Stage 2 pupils and staff delivered another superb performance, last night, with their production of Cinderella. There was high demand for tickets and every space in the hall was filled. This year saw the children compose a pantomime script set in Colwyn Bay. This included the usual mix of modern songs (with a lyrical twist), flash mob dancing, multimedia interludes and live musical accompaniment. Highlights of this year's production, under new director, Mrs Taylor, were a highly accomplished three piece band, entertaining movies and all singing and dancing lead roles. As usual, the staff and children have worked hard to put on this superb show. It has involved a lot of scenery and prop creation, dance and singing rehearsals, script writing, filming, editing and drama work. There was also a lot of input from parents in supporting the children's preparations and creating some show stealing costumes. On behalf of the school, many thanks to all those who invest their time and effort to make this such a memorable and valuable life experience for our pupils. For some, it may be their last time starting on a stage, for others we hope it could be the beginning of a lifetime performing! As usual, we filmed the production and DVDs will be available to order this week (£4 each) for collection in September. As a partner school of Glamorgan CC and thanks to the efforts of Conwy Cricket Development Officer, Ben Garnett, sixteen pupils from our school were given the opportunity of a lifetime as they attended the second day of the Cardiff Test Match. We travelled down by coach the night before and arrived at the ground early to collect our tickets and attend a briefing session. The highlights of the day for our pupils were playing on the pitch during the lunch interval and taking it in turns to act as 'Guard of Honour' as the two teams came onto the pitch. This was a truly thrilling experience for our youngsters as they saw star cricketers and pundits up close. One or two even managed to have a chat with the Australian players. The behaviour of the children was superb and we are hoping that we will be able to do more work with Glamorgan CC in the future as we continue to develop our cricketing skills.
