As the World Cup got under way in Russia, our week ended with a sports dominated assembly.
Certificates were awarded to children in Year 6 who represented the school at the Diocesan Football and Netball tournaments, which took place last week, in Rhyl. We also congratulated the 38 pupils from Years 3-6 who represented the school at the Diocesan Athletics Competition at Parc Eirias. Each year, in this event, we compete against larger schools and rarely taste much success. However, this year, we had a number of winners and Year 5/6 boys finished 3rd overall, as did Year 3/4 girls. At the start of the week, we were blessed with beautiful weather for our annual sports day. Congratulations to all pupils for taking part, trying their best and doing so with a smile on their faces. Many thanks, also, to the PTA members who provided refreshments for parents - this was a welcome addition to our annual event. Finally, we celebrated four award winners (see photo above). Jack and Sophia were winners of the Victor and Victrix Ludorum trophies for the pupils scoring highest overall in the Key Stage 2 Sports Day. (Points are awarded in each event for distance thrown or jumped and speed in races) Our second pair of winners were Josh and Sienna who were St Joseph’s Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year. This second set of awards are in recognition of all round sporting achievement and inspirational attitudes to participation and competition. Well done to everyone who played a part in our sporting success.
